Sugar: The Bitter Truth

Robert H. Lustig, MD, UCSF Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Endocrinology, explores the damage caused by sugary foods. He argues that fructose (too much) and fiber (not enough) appear to be cornerstones of the obesity epidemic through their effects on insulin.

What Is Positive Thinking?

What determines our mood or sense of well being? Is it what is happening in our lives, or rather, the way we think about what is happening? If you take a moment to think about your life, and others around you, you may realize how much energy you (or others) spend complaining about events or situations in your (or their) life.

Negative thinking seems normal because it seems obvious, however, what this is doing is stating our judgement or criticism of what is happening. Others may see it or choose to view it differently. There is no true external reality, only our interpretation of it.

If you keep on verbalizing certain thoughts to yourself, and continue thinking them, you are turning those thoughts into reality, and creating a negative bubble and headspace that will continually bring you down. It is taking the negative thought, stating it aloud and spreading the negative energy.

This doesn’t mean we need to be oblivious to real-life problems. It simply means that talking about your issues repeatedly does nothing but make you and your listeners feel bad. The first step would be to take action to change the situation (positively), or find something positive to talk about.

What we think is what we will create. Thinking negatively about yourself is damaging to your mind, body, and soul, whereas positive thinking helps brighten and strengthen that divine inner life force. If you want to do something and then come up with reasons why it will never work, it is like typing a great idea and then pressing delete.

Dwelling on past misfortunes, hurts, or missed opportunities literally puts our bodies back into those situations, and our brain and body reacts in the same way as when you were experiencing those hurts; worry and anger physically causes the body to release stress hormones and suppresses our immune system. To put it simply, focusing on the negative is toxic and poisons our inner environment. Positive thinking has the opposite effect.

Add quality to your life by focusing on the positive, and start viewing situations in a different light. Once we start changing the way we think, we will start changing the way we feel and react to the ones we love, whether it be friends, family, or perhaps even complete strangers!

Megan's Wish List

This brought tears to my eyes....

Adam And Megan are two Canadians who worked as English teachers in South Coreia ,they met and fell in love there and they got married.

After a month a surprise was waiting for them,it was discovered that Megan has caner and in a late stage. Adam used to sneak to her room although the doctor refused that, just to be by her side.
Meghan and me in 2009 - photo by Danuta Zgurzynski
Megan didn't live for long, she passed away  quickly. Shea had a list of 30 wishes which she wanted to finish but death was faster. Adam refused not to finish them.

Adam fulfilled ten wishes, she wanted to live in 5 countries, to participate in a marathon, to read 12 books each year and to spend 100 hours as a volunteer. She also wished to attain a PHD, lately Adam celebrated his bachelor certificate and will start Preparing for his Graduate studies within three months

When Adam is asked about his job.. He immediately replies:My job is to fulfill Megan's wishes, nothing more than that
Click the image below to find Megan's wish list, and the ones crossed out are the ones Adam fulfilled.

Super Herb That Destroys Cancer: Lei Gong Teng

Lei gong teng (Tripterygium wilfordii), a chinese plant sometimes called “Thunder God vine”, is a traditional Chinese medicine that has been used for centuries for individuals with fever, chills, edema and carbuncle. The plant’s ability to cure cancer only recently came into light when researchers at the University of Minnesota’s Masonic Cancer Centre found that compounds from this plant wiped out pancreatic tumours in mice, and showed no signs of tumours after 40 days or after discontinuing the treatment.

The natural compound, triptolide, found in lei gong teng, has been shown in numerous studies to induce apoptosis (cell death) in cancerous cells. In one study, the apoptosis induced by triptolide was mediated by up-regulating the expression of a gene associated with apoptosis called caspase-3 and bax, making triptolide a potential treatment for cancers of the pancreas.

“This drug is just unbelievably potent in killing tumour cells,” said Ashok Saluja, a vice chairman of research at the Masonic Cancer Centre. “You could see that every day you looked at those mice, the tumour was decreasing and decreasing, and then just gone.”

Unfortunately, researchers have now found a way to isolate triptolide into a new drug called minnelide, which is a modified form of the diterpenoid compound triptolide, isolated from the thunder god vine. Under normal circumstances, Big Pharma would not be able to make any money off the thunder god vine, since you cannot patent nature. With this new drug, minnelide, however, Big Pharma will get a big FDA stamp of approval which will allow the newly patented, nutritionally ruined triptolide to be sold for hundreds and thousands of dollars.

Of course, there is always the option of just going out to the market and grabbing some thunder god vine yourself. I am sure a local asian market or online distributor sells this vine for a fraction of the price that a drug with half the amount of cancer-curing enzyme activity would go for.

Vitamin Water Infusions

Creating your own vitamin water is one of the simplest things to do! All you need is some fruit, herbs and water and you are set. Don't settle for the "vitamin waters" you might notice in grocery stores. Those waters are full of artificial chemical flavourings, plenty of refined sugar and bone dissolving acids all of which promote illness and disease.

Making your own vitamin water infusions is quick and easy! They are packed with natural vitamins and minerals (not synthetic alterations of them) and thus they are better recognized and utilized in the body. Make sure to create larger batches so that these waters will last you all throughout the week!

Directions:
1. Pick a non-citrus fruit - I like to pick things like berries, kiwi, mango or pineapple.
2. Pick a citrus fruit - you can choose from orange slices to lemon or lime slices!
3. Add herbs - choose things like mint, rosemary, basil or other favourite herbs

Once you have decided on the combination you want to use (and you may add as little or as much as you please of each - I like to add in about 1/2 cup of each fruit and 1/4 cup of herbs for 2 litres of water), put them into a large jug of water and let them soak in the water in a fridge overnight. In the morning you will have yourself a wonderful vitamin infused water that you can enjoy over the day!

Favourite combinations of mine:
1. Strawberry, lemon, mint
2. Lemon, lime, mint
3. Kiwi, lemon, lime, mint
4. Pineapple, lemon, basil
5. Mango, orange, rosemary

*You may also choose to add some ice to your water for an even cooler treat!

Organic Farmers Fight Monsanto

Ever since the commercial introduction of its Genetically Modified Seeds in 1996, Monsanto has launched intense persecution against hundreds of farmers and seed dealers in the US and Canada alone, blaming patent infringement of their GMO seeds in what seems to be their drive for complete control...
